For the first installment of "Using Essential Oils", I chose the one that I feel is the easiest to find and buy in a health food store. Peppermint Essential Oil is considered a "hot" oil, so always dilute it. A few drops in about a tablespoon of coconut oil, almond oil, olive oil, or other carrier is a great start for rubbing into the chest, feet, or temples (in the case of a headache). Be careful to keep it out of your eyes, and DO NOT use during pregnancy or while nursing. (It has been shown to be a possible cause of miscarriage, and can decrease breastmilk production.)
